When you work for a large company, December can be an incredible time.

The human resources department has been busy putting together a calendar of exciting events such as ‘Secret Santa’, an ugly sweater competition and of course the annual Christmas party. Larger companies have the luxury of big budgets and huge teams to treat their employees to elaborate dinners and upscale cocktail parties.

However, when you are an entrepreneur or employed in a small business you can feel like your options for festive fun are limited. But we want you to turn that attitude around! Everyone, no matter what their company size should celebrate the holiday period, even those who work for themselves!

In this week’s blog, we discover how entrepreneurs and small businesses can celebrate the holiday period in a way that best suits their size and budgets.

Potluck:

Organizing a potluck lunch or dinner is an easy and affordable way that any small team can celebrate the holidays. If you are a new team, this is also a great way to get to know one another and discuss topics outside of work such as family, cultural background and travel.

See a Holiday Show:

Being in a small team certainly has its benefits, and attending a movie or theatre production as a group is definitely one of them. A night at the theatre to see a seasonal show is a great way small businesses can embrace the season.

Volunteer:

In recent years, most businesses have been trying to find ways they can better their social responsibility and give back to the community. Volunteering in a local shelter or hospital is a perfect activity for a small team that will make everyone feel good.

Treat Your Favourite Client:

Who needs a team when you have amazing clients! If you are an entrepreneur seeking someone to celebrate the holidays with, why not invite your favourite client for a meal?

Celebrate with Your Community:

This one is for our members! When you are a member of a coworking space, you gain more than just a place to do business, you gain a professional community. Reaching out to some of your fellow members for a festive Happy Hour or a Christmas inspired lunch is a great way to make new connections and ensure you do not celebrate alone.

Virtual Secret Santa:

Let’s not forget about people who work remotely. Working from home can be an incredible benefit; however, the physical distance can certainly get in the way of you celebrating with your team. Organizing a Secret Santa gift exchange online, and then posting the gifts to a team member’s address can be a great way you can partake in a Christmas tradition. You could even take the exchange to the next level and open the gifts together on Skype.

No matter what your company size every entrepreneur and small business owner can find a way to enjoy the holiday period. Are you en entrepreneur looking for someone to celebrate with? Why not join a coworking space like ours and join in on our festive fun!
